So this is my first post here. I've been looking at this site for a few weeks, and decided to take the plunge.

I've been slowly putting together a basket case titled as a 47 Chief, and I have a few questions regarding the bottom end of the motor.

The bottom end has been built and stored by someone in the past, and for all intents and purposes, seems to have been quality workmanship.

However, based upon past experience, unless I can verify the work done and by who, I will end up having ...

Others I visit seem to be overpopulated by Brand X riders, I have owned Brand X bikes in the past but only when I was "in-between" Indians.
With the advances made to electronics these past few years, is there anyone still flying the 6v flag?? I have converted my bike to a CE 12v and I love it. I used the external regulated version (hiding the regualtor behind my battery on the lower part of the fender) with great success. I would like to hear from others on their thoughts.

Merry Christmas--I have a tech question on my primary drive--46 chief--I believe that I have been sold a primary drive chain that is too long. In order to get the 3/8 inch up-down play called for in the old repair and overhaul manual, I have the adjustor foot pushed way-way up so that the foot is actually up slightly above the lower curve of the engine sprocket, and the bottom leg of the chain is seriosuly hourglassed up. The chain was sold me as new and it only has about 50 miles on it. Has ...

Seems to be a brand new site, hope it builds up. My next dream is to have a cool little rigid project to build, maybe a 39 Scout, flattracker style. First got to finish up the 48 project. I was at Daveport this past August and I will try and get to Wauseon next time.

Rode my 47 Chief yesterday and all was good. Took it out today and now I have a strange whining that I think is coming from the Clutch side but not sure. It almost sounds like a whistling that is pretty load over 20 mph. At idle and easy on the gas to 20mph in all gears you dont here it. Wondering if its a bearing or maybe the clutch. Even in neutral, I can rev it and it whistles. Ideas???

The odometer hit 2362 miles and I had the day off so I decided to change the oil in Chief #31. The dealer Indian of Wichita performed the 500 mile service and then the 2500 mile service @ 1316 miles (a little early), but they wanted my new ownership experience to be pleasant and I thank them for that.

I called the local AmsOil distributor and purchased 7 quarts of the 20W-50 Sythetic Motorcycle oil. I have a couple Indian chrome oil filters from EBay on the shelf so I was ready to go.

What is stroke on 92" flywheels? Is there enough meat for cutting clearance for rods at top of cases between cylinders? Must be unless it is necessary to use Kiwi cases. That seems like a long stroke for small bore.Anyone useing the 92"?
